Serving Dorking & Surrounding Villages

Classical Pilates for Dorking Residents

Dorking sits about three miles west of the studio, close enough that most people are parked on Brockham green within ten or twelve minutes, even taking the A25 at a school-run hour. It is an easy journey either way: out past Betchworth along the river, or down the hill from Deepdene.

Dorking is a walking and cycling town in the truest sense. Box Hill and Ranmore are on the doorstep, the Surrey Hills draw riders in every weekend, and a great many residents spend their time on gradients that ask a lot of the hips, knees and lower back. Classical mat Pilates is a natural counterweight to that. It builds the deep core stability and controlled mobility that long climbs and long descents tend to erode, and it does so without adding the bulk or fatigue that would compromise the next ride or walk.

The other reason Dorking clients tend to make the trip is the format. Town-centre gyms and larger studios run big timetabled classes; here, groups stay small and the teaching stays classical, following Joseph Pilates' original mat order exercise by exercise. If you have been managing a desk-bound back through the week and then loading it on the hills at the weekend, that ordered progression is usually what finally shifts things.

Parking in Brockham is straightforward and unmetered, which after Dorking's high street is its own small argument for coming out to the village.
